When should I take the PSAT to be considered for the National Merit Scholarship Program?
Take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of 11th grade to qualify. (10th grade = practice only)
What is the ideal time to take the SAT?
First attempt: spring 10th grade if kids complete algebra 1.
Second attempt will be on fall of 11th grade
How and when do I register for AP Exams?
Register with your school’s AP coordinator by Oct/Nov. Exams are in early May
What’s the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
An unweighted GPA uses a 4.0 scale regardless of course difficulty,
while a weighted GPA gives extra points for honors, AP, or IB classes to reflect their added rigor.
